Millie had been living in New Scarborough for a while, she was attending college, but her major was largely undecided for her. She had always had an interest in History and Education, perhaps that had been what had brought her to the memorial park so late in the afternoon? It was starting to warm up, although it still seemed to be a bit cold in that fishing village, what with the mist that seemed to roll through the town every now and then from the ocean.
The young dog eared woman stood at the base of the statue, gazing up upon it with interest and curiosity, nibbling gently upon her bottom lip. She needed to find a subject to write about her essay on, a historical place, thing or person. Maybe she could write about Captain Alfsson? The mixed rumors of him had interested her quite a bit, drawing her into his allure quite a bit, and time was drawing shorter to begin her essay, which would be due in a few weeks time. Her ears dropped and tail hung limply behind her, such an easy way to read the young woman’s emotions.
She had at first wanted to write about the history of her race... But, there hadn’t been anything she could find, no notable person, no origins, nothing of sorts, even attempting to contact her parents had been a futile effort, there was nothing she could find out about herself more than she already knew. Shaking her head, she brushed back the long tresses of blond that fell in front of her face before moving over to settle upon a bench nearby, taking out her netbook, to begin working on some of her other class work. Perhaps she could find motivation for her essay within it.

Donaghan had been one of the first wave of people arriving via portal to the city. He'd grown up in a universe similar, but also unlike this one, where supernaturals - 'metas' as they were called there - were treated as second-class citizens at best, and hardened criminals or lab rats at worst. He'd experienced the worst during what was known as the Purge... but he tried not to think about it.
Afterall, that had been so long ago, now. In 2018, the curly-haired Scotsman had appeared in New Scarborough - exiting the world of San Angeles in the year 2020. It had been confusing to go back in time AND be in a different universe, but he did as he always did, and survived. In fact, he thrived.
Now the chief of police once again, in an entirely new world, he was gung-ho about keeping racial relations peaceful. To that end, he often took walks in the city to ingratiate him with the public.
Today, he was walking in the park when he noticed a young woman with interesting features. She looked and smelled like both a dog and a human somehow. He'd not seen cross-race children before, if that's what she was. Was it really possible? He realized he was staring and shook his head out of his reverie.
"Err, hullo there. Sorry t'have disturbed yeh."

Despite the fact that Millie bore animal features, she did not take advantage of them all too often, her senses were along the lines of a dog, but her mannerisms were human, which allowed the man to get quite close until she took notice of him after he begun speaking. Those ears perked and pale blue eyes flicked up to gaze at him from behind those black bottom-rimmed glasses she wore.
Well, he certainly smelled different, but she tried not to let others scent distract her, it could be him, or it could be someone else’s scent mixing with his somewhere else, she wasn’t too keen on how to use her senses after all. “Oh, no need to apologize sir!” A kind smile given as her ears lowered back, and tail wagged happily behind her, showing that she was not a threat so easily to the man. “I was just in the midst of typing up some class work I have due soon.”
Looking the man over she would shut her netbook and slide it away into her pack, giving the man her full and utmost attention. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before... But I only just arrived here myself.” And most people seemed to avoid her as it was, she was an unknown after all, an anomaly that shouldn’t technically exist. “I’m Millie, Millie Chiot! Pleasure to meet you sir...?” Raised to be a polite and well mannered young woman it appeared.

Yes, to normal creatures, he'd smell clean and lightly cologned, but to those with heightened senses, the deer musk on him was obvious, though not unpleasant for most.
Behind the woman, a couple walked by arguing in hushed tones about the alleged sea creature sightings. The man said they should stay clear of the Shoals and the shoreline in general, while the woman said he was being silly. Donnie glanced up at them with a small frown before reverting his attention to the lass he'd stumbled upon.
"Ate, there is. I shouldn't have been starin' - I was just takin' a nice walk when I say ye. I'm Donaghan, Donaghan Whitehart. Ye may know me as the chief o' police in town. Welcome to New Scarborough, Ms. Chiot!" he said, pressing a smile onto his bearded features.

Her head tilted as she gazed the man over, observing him quite closely. One ear would perk up and turn slightly towards the couple that was arguing not too far behind her about some sea monster. It was an unfortunate thing for her, being able to accidentally eavesdrop on conversations despite her best abilities, she could hear a pin drop from across the park if she listened hard enough.
Millie would smile back at the man nodding her head. Getting to her feet she would pick up her pack, sliding it onto her shoulder. “It is certainly a pleasure to meet you Donaghan! I feel honored to meet the Chief of Police, and slightly scared... Did I do something illegal unknowingly?” Her ears lowered as her curious gaze say upon him. After a while she would step up closer. “I must say... What kind of accent is that if you don’t mind me asking? I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before.” Genuinely curious it appeared.

Keen as his powers of observation were, he'd notice her flick her ear, but he wasn't sure to which stimuli she was reacting, of course. The couple in question sat down nearby and continued arguing, getting slightly louder by the moment. Och. Lovely.
Another thing he noticed was being looked over extensively by Ms. Chiot, something he should be used to but also made him twinge with a bit of self-consciousness. His smile tightened and became a bit more unnatural, before it flickered away.
... Only to return as he pushed a small breath of air through his nose in amusement. "Why does everyone always assume I'm about teh arrest them? I do other things besides that, ya know," he chuckled. She was standing up now, which he mirrored. "Oh, ye have somewhere teh be? I'm sorry I took up your time."
He paused and outright looked at the bickering couple as if to psychicly tell them to shut up. He hated the panic that was quickly spreading through the city. Over a few unsubstantiated tall tales of sea creatures? Ridiculous.
"Hm?" he said, distracted, before blinking and returning back to the present at hand. "Oh, I'm Scottish. From Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland to be exact. And you?
